0 shots on target, 0 take-ons, 0 crosses and 0 chances created; United attacker woeful

Manchester United’s season was pretty much summed up in the space of around ten minutes today, the Tottenham Hotspur scored three goals in quick succession to all-but end United’s hopes of finishing in the Champions League places this term.

Tottenham more than deserved the win, with Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United looking ineffective for the majority of the game. The match was summed up by the stats of a player who is in one of the most key attacking areas of the field; Jesse Lingard.

The youngster has been switched into the #10 role recently, and today he looked completely out of place in that spot. He finished the game with no crosses, no take-ons, no shots on target and no chances created which just sums it up.

I like Jesse Lingard, but his pace and directness is much more suited to a spot on the wing rather than in the middle of the park, so hopefully he is switched back out wide sooner rather than later.
