Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho handed Marouane Fellaini his first start of the season against Burnley last night. What an absolute masterstroke that was.
The midfielder, fresh off his third-place World Cup finish with Belgium, will be feeling good after being allowed time off to get fully fit before being rushed back into things.
Mourinho’s men have already reaped the rewards, with Fellaini playing in the deep midfielder role at Turf Moor on Sunday; dominating proceedings from start to finish.
The excellent Statman Dave crunched his numbers throughout the fixture, with Fellaini winning 100% of his tackles, while also making six clearances and winning seven aerial battles. He was also on the ball quite often, taking 68 touches during the 90-minute match.

Personally, I didn’t find that Mourinho needed to justify handing a new contract to a man who has become so vital for this club at times, but alas, there were still doubters. This display tells you everything you need to know.
The self-proclaimed Special One trusts Fellaini wholeheartedly. Why shouldn’t he? He rarely lets us down and does a real job in the engine room when required. Hopefully, this much-needed confidence-booster will allow the Belgium international to go from strength-to-strength and continue with this form.
