20-year-old Manchester United man suffers ‘significant knee injury’, expected to be out for a while

Manchester United’s injury situation was suddenly looking a whole lot better before the Liverpool game, but now, in typical fashion, things have changed for the worse. Anthony Martial has a minor issue, but now another forward has been hit with a more serious problem.

The man in question is James Wilson, and Manchester United have decided to recall the forward from his loan spell at Derby County due to a ‘significant knee injury’. The club confirmed the news via social media earlier on in the evening, and although the extent of the injury hasn’t been revealed, it does not look good.

Wilson burst onto the scene in stunning style during Ryan Giggs’ four-game spell as manager, as he scored a super brace on his full debut. Things rapidly went downhill after that, though, as he found himself out on loan in the three seasons since then.

He is clearly a hugely talented player, with a bright future in the game, but this latest setback could be extremely costly. Knee injuries can be horrendous, and if it requires surgery Wilson will be out of action for several months, and that would explain United’s choice to recall him.
