David de Gea – Couldn’t do anything about the goal, wasn’t tested at all putting that to one side. 6/10
Antonio Valencia – Got into the right areas but just couldn’t find that killer ball. 6/10
Phil Jones – Solid, and wasn’t really given a problem by Peter Crouch. 6/10
Chris Smalling – Fell asleep and let his man drift across him for Pieters’ opener. 4/10
Daley Blind – Obviously he’s brilliant positionally, but he’s just not a full-back. 4/10
Marouane Fellaini – Up for the physical battle with Stoke’s combative side. Won plenty of tackles and kept it simple. 6/10
Ander Herrera – His usual busy self. At times he was sloppy in possession, but did alright for the most part. 5/10
Paul Pogba – Started slowly, but grew into the game and began to control things. 6/10
Juan Mata – Very quiet before he was subbed off. Missed an absolute sitter to bring United level in the first 45. 4/10
Henrikh Mkhitaryan – Lively and some nice runs, but his final ball was often lacking. Has to improve. 5/10
Zlatan Ibrahimovic – Had a poor day. Just couldn’t really get into the game at all. 4/10
Subs:
Marcus Rashford – Just not a left winger. His passing isn’t anywhere near precise enough to play that role to a high standard.
Wayne Rooney – Scored an absolute scorcher to break Sir Bobby Charlton’s record.
Jesse Lingard – Brought some pace into the attack. Did alright.
