Manchester United’s Ander Herrera has declared his intention to stay at Old Trafford for as long as possible, according to ESPN.
The 28-year-old had spent the last month on the sidelines with a hamstring issue, before making his return to action against Swansea City on Saturday – where he was a second-half substitute.
It has been an injury-hit season for the Basque midfielder, but don’t forget that he was Manchester United’s Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year just under twelve months ago.
He may have fallen down the pecking order behind Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba and perhaps even Scott McTominay, but he’s an exceptionally gifted footballer who’ll always give 100% whatever the situation.
Herrera’s not a footballer who’ll start every single week for you, but there are certainly worse players to have in and around the squad. I always cast my mind back to the absolute masterclass he put in when United took on Chelsea last season. He man-marked Eden Hazard out of the game, while also scoring the second goal that helped the Red Devils to all three points.
Hey, if he wants to stay here for as long as possible, I’ve absolutely no issue with that…
