Manchester United Football Club takes on their fierce rivals, Manchester City, on Sunday afternoon. Jose Mourinho’s men sit eight points off top spot right now, but that lead could be dented significantly with a victory.
The game itself will be a hard-fought, feisty encounter, but I always fancy Manchester United to do well, and that’s no different here. Ahead of that match, we’ve tried to work out what starting line-up Mourinho will go with.
Check out the predicted starting XI here:
The 3-5-2 has worked wonders over our last couple of league games, so it’d be daft to change that. David de Gea will start in goal, with Chris Smalling, Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones protecting him.
Ashley Young has been playing fantastically as the left-wingback, so he’ll start. On the opposite side, Antonio Valencia has chipped in with some hugely important goals and performances, meaning his inclusion in the XI is justified.
Paul Pogba is banned, leaving Mourinho with a selection dilemma. Nemanja Matic will protect the defence, with Ander Herrera and Jesse Lingard in front of him.
Then, we have the front two. Romelu Lukaku scored midweek so he’ll be in confident mood. Anthony Martial has looked dangerous recently and he will undoubtedly play.
