Manchester United’s attentions will be turned back to the Premier League this weekend, fresh off the back of Jose Mourinho’s men winning the newly-renamed EFL Cup. The lads will be in buoyant mood and full of confidence, but they mustn’t underestimate opponents, AFC Bournemouth.
We’ve decided to try and decipher Mourinho’s mind and work out the starting XI, so here goes.
David de Gea will obviously keep the number one jersey, and he’ll have Marcos Rojo and Eric Bailly in front of him. The duo have been playing pretty well of late – particularly the Ivorian. Daley Blind should come back into the team at left-back, with Antonio Valencia the right-back.
Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba are definitely forming a nice bond in the middle of the park, and they seem to have the correct blend of defensive duties as well as a real quality in attack. Juan Mata will start just in front of them in the #10 role.
Man of the moment Zlatan Ibrahimovic will no doubt lead the line, and he’ll get plenty of services from off of the wings from both Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard.
