Manchester United’s biggest game of the season is just on the horizon. The Red Devils’ game against Celta Vigo is for a spot in the Europa League final, and with our squad decimated by injuries, this two-legged tie has been made all the harder.
Our opponents are not to be underestimated. They have made it this far in the tournament, and throughout this season they’ve managed to overturn both Real Madrid and FC Barcelona this current campaign.
So we’ve decided to try and work out our starting line-up for the match, and it hasn’t been easy. In goal, Sergio Romero will resume his role as the Europa League goalkeeper. To his credit, the Argentine has barely put a foot wrong all season and he deserves to continue.
The back four is tough due to so many injuries protruding through the squad. Matteo Darmian will play as the left-back, with Antonio Valencia getting the nod as the right-back. Daley Blind will start, and I think that Eric Bailly will pull through.
Marouane Fellaini returns from suspension and he will play in the middle, alongside Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba who is back from injury. We’ve really missed his creativity over the last few games and it is good to have him back.
A lot is riding on the front three and their pace. Counter-attacking opportunities could be our best chance for a goal, and with Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford playing, we have speed and intelligence in abundance. Big performances are expected from all of them if we’re to claim a vital away goal.
