Manchester United were comfortably beaten away at Tottenham Hotspur last time out, with Jose Mourinho desperate to put that result behind them against Huddersfield Town this coming Saturday.
David Wagner’s men have been in a slump themselves since the turn of the year and the Red Devils simply have to go out and make a statement. This is a must-win game if they want to win the battle for second place, and ahead of that match, we’ve tried to decipher Mourinho’s mind and work out what line-up we may see.
Check out our predicted starting XI here:
Despite a shaky game in the kicking department against Spurs, David de Gea will obviously retain his place. However, we could see some changes to the back-line. I fully expect Luke Shaw to come back into the team as he’ll be allowed to be more offensive in this one, with Marcos Rojo starting in place of Chris Smalling. Phil Jones will likely keep his place in the XI, with Antonio Valencia making up the defence.
Although United could have done with the extra midfield man against Spurs, the Nemanja Matic-Paul Pogba pivot should be plenty good enough to win this midfield battle. It’ll allow Juan Mata to pull the strings from in the #10 role, as he looks to carve out opportunities for Romelu Lukaku.
Anthony Martial has to play, heck, he was the only guy who looked up for it against Tottenham. Alexis Sanchez will start but hopefully on the right-hand side, with Romelu Lukaku leading the line.
