4-2-3-1: Manchester United predicted XI vs Saint-Etienne – Luke Shaw starts

Manchester United managed to ensure safe progression into the next round of the FA Cup at the weekend, but the games are now coming thick and fast. Next up, a trip to France and the second leg of our Europa League double-header against Saint-Etienne; with United 3-0 up from the first game.

With the scoreline and one eye on the EFL Cup final in mind, I fully expect the manager to make a couple of changes to the line-up, in order to have fully fit guys for the Wembley showpiece.

Sergio Romero should remain in goal after a steady performance at Blackburn, although he’ll have a much-changed defence in front of him. Eric Bailly should come back into proceedings alongside Chris Smalling. I’d love for both Luke Shaw and Tim Fosu-Mensah to get a start, and I believe Jose has the confidence in the pair to begin with them.

Paul Pogba only played thirty minutes from off of the bench against Blackburn, so a start here won’t do him any harm. Marouane Fellaini would be an excellent choice to come into the side, allowing Ander Herrera to get some well earned rest.

The front four looks strong. Marcus Rashford should lead the line, alongside fellow academy product Jesse Lingard who’ll start on the right-wing. Juan Mata will shift to a familiar #10 role, with Anthony Martial playing on the left.
