Manchester United Football Club drew 1-1 in their opening tour game against Club America. Although Jose Mourinho will tell you it’s more about fitness levels than the actual result, it’s always nice to get victories under your belt.
No doubt the self-proclaimed Special One will be hoping for a victory in this one, with that in mind, take a look at our predicted starting line-up below.
Manchester United predicted XI vs San Jose Earthquakes here:
In goal, Sergio Romero will play his first tour match. The Argentina goalkeeper missed the World Cup through injury, but once again, he’ll be an excellent back-up to have for Mourinho.
Defensively, we look solid. Demetri Mitchell will get the nod at left-back, with Antonio Valencia on the opposite flank. Timothy Fosu-Mensah started his career as a centre-half, why not give him the opportunity to play there again? Having the experienced Chris Smalling at the heart of the defence is good for his Dutch counterpart.
Scott McTominay certainly enjoyed himself during his debut Red Devils season. This tour will prove pivotal for his development going forward, particularly with Fred’s arrival. He has to use this time to make an impact. Ander Herrera will play alongside him.
Alexis Sanchez is now on tour, he’s set to make his bow. This summer is huge for him, and it could well be make or break for his United career. Anthony Martial will start through the middle, with Juan Mata completing the line-up.
