Manchester United Football Club will be hurting right now, as that loss to Chelsea was definitely tough to take. Jose Mourinho’s men acquitted themselves well on the whole, but it wasn’t to be. Next up, a Europa League second leg against FC Rostov.
The tie is finely balanced at 1-1, and Manchester United simply have to go out and put in a positive performance in this one. We’ve decided to try and work out what XI Jose will play.
In goal we have David de Gea. The Spaniard has to start in such a finely balanced tie, despite Romero’s good performances. In front of him, Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo will get the nod, with the former nice and rested. Antonio Valencia has been one of our most consistent performers this season so he’ll play, and Luke Shaw will come back into the mix.
Ander Herrera saw red on Monday night so he’ll have enough in the tank to start here. Marouane Fellaini will be fresh and ready to go too, and he deserves a chance to start.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan was another player who suffered from Herrera’s red card as he was hauled off, so I’ve no doubts the Armenia captain will start. The rest of the front three didn’t play in the Chelsea game for one reason or another; Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. They’ll all likely play.
