Manchester United’s attentions turn back to the Europa League this midweek, as French side Saint-Etienne come to town. The French team head to Old Trafford sitting fifth in Ligue 1, and that tells you all you need to know about the threat they’ll pose.
Ahead of the game, we’ve tried to work out Jose Mourinho’s thinking and try to decipher who he’ll start – and it won’t be easy. I think he’ll want to rotate a little bit, whilst keeping the same core of star plays involved in the side.
In goal, David de Gea should get the nod, and he will no doubt have Eric Bailly in front of him, alongside the returning Phil Jones from injury. Another regular in the side recently is Antonio Valencia and I don’t see why he shouldn’t continue, Luke Shaw may well get his chance to impress.
A midfield two has been working recently, and I don’t see why that should change. Paul Pogba will start, with Marouane Fellaini coming into the mix to give Ander Herrera a well-deserved rest.
The front four looks strong despite changes. Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford will come into the team for Anthony Martial and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Juan Mata and Zlatan Ibrahimovic make up the team.
