4-2-3-1: Potential Man United starting XI vs Burton Albion – Shaw & Lindelof start

Manchester United Football Club begin their defence of the newly-renamed Carabao on Wednesday night, against Burton Albion. Jose Mourinho’s side will be feeling in confident mood when they take to the Old Trafford turf, following an absolute thumping of Everton on Sunday.

With that in mind, we expect changes galore to give the regular Premier League starters some well-deserved rest. The self-proclaimed Special One will still be able to name a supremely strong side though, due to the fact that he has a deep squad at his disposal.

Check out the predicted Man United starting XI vs Burton Albion here:

This will undoubtedly be the first opportunity we’ll get to see Sergio Romero in between the sticks for the Red Devils this season. He’ll have the back two of Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof in front of him, and it’ll be great to see how the Swede gets on in his first game against English opposition. Matteo Darmian will come in on the right, and hopefully, we’ll see Luke Shaw start on the left-hand side following a few outings for the U23s.

It’ll also be a first appearance of the campaign for club captain Michael Carrick. He’s had to wait for his opportunity but I think this will be his way back into the team. The same goes for Ander Herrera who’ll also play.

Juan Mata will start the game as the #10, with Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial either side of him. Marcus Rashford will lead the line, allowing Romelu Lukaku a well-earned rest.
