4-2-3-1: Predicted Man United XI vs Newcastle – Smalling starts

Manchester United Football Club return, following a two-week hiatus due to the pain that is international football. Jose Mourinho’s men lost last time out, but they’ll be desperate to return to winning ways at home to Newcastle.

Make no mistake, this game will not be easy. Rafa Benitez’s side are playing some brilliant football right now, and they’ll certainly be looking to cause an upset.

The likes of Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcos Rojo will return to the squad, but I doubt any of those guys will start. Check out our predicted starting XI here.

Predicted Man United XI vs Newcastle:

David de Gea will play in between the sticks. He’ll have Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling in front of him, with Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia playing as the full-backs.

Nemanja Matic has been outstanding since joining the Red Devils, with the Serbia international establishing himself as a key player for this team. Ander Herrera will continue.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan simply has to step his game up. The Armenia star has been in poor form recently, and that simply has to change. Marcus Rashford will start, as will Juan Mata. Romelu Lukaku will be desperate for a goal, this is a good opportunity for him.
