4-2-3-1: Predicted Manchester United XI vs Real Salt Lake – Lukaku starts

Manchester United kicked off the tour with a pretty solid victory against the LA Galaxy, and now the games are starting to come thick and fast. Next up, another MLS Western Conference side, Real Salt Lake. Hopefully, we’ll get to see Romelu Lukaku start his first match.

Obviously, these games are more about building up the match fitness, rather than getting a result. Jose Mourinho will be putting his players through their paces in strenuous training session and that can only be a good thing.

Now we’ve been given an idea into the manager’s thinking, it may be slightly easier to work out how we’ll line up for this one.

Have a look at the full starting line-up here:

In goal, Sergio Romero will start as he didn’t play in the LA Galaxy game. In front of him, I’d love to see a back two of Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof, as I genuinely think that this will be our partnership going into the new campaign. Now would be a good time for the boss to take a look at it. In terms of full-backs, I think Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Daley Blind will get the nod.

We’ll probably see a two in midfield and that’s a battle we should be able to win comfortably. The intelligence and work rate of Ander Herrera coupled with Marouane Fellaini should be more than enough to win the battle.

Then, we have a front four. Juan Mata pulled the strings wonderfully against LA Galaxy, so he deserves to start. Anthony Martial and Henrikh Mkhitaryan linked up wonderfully well so they’ll play, and Romelu Lukaku will be handed the starting striker role. Hopefully, he’ll get his first Manchester United goal.
