Manchester United’s attentions turn towards the oldest trophy in English football this weekend; the FA Cup. It’s a tournament that Jose Mourinho’s team were dumped out of in acrimonious fashion last term, and the Red Devils will certainly be hoping to right a few wrongs.
Our third round match takes place at Old Trafford on Friday night against Championship side Derby County. It’s a game that’ll test our squad, but it also provides some lads with an excellent opportunity to stake their claim for a regular place in the team.
Anyway, let’s take a look at the predicted starting line-up here.
Check out the Man United predicted XI here:
Sergio Romero will get the nod in goal, allowing David de Gea some well-deserved rest. Victor Lindelof has been improving week-on-week so he’ll start, as will Chris Smalling upon return from injury. Axel Tuanzebe has been on the fringes of things all season and this is the perfect place to hand him a start. Luke Shaw will play as the left-back.
Scott McTominay has had a few moments of joy this term and he’ll start in this one, with Basque-born Ander Herrera partnering him in the middle. Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been playing supremely bad lately, and this could be a good confidence-booster.
It makes little sense to risk Romelu Lukaku in this fixture, so Marcus Rashford will lead the line with Juan Mata and Anthony Martial starting on the right and left flanks respectively.
