4-3-1-2: Man United predicted XI vs Liverpool – Mata at #10

Manchester United returned to winning ways last time out as the Red Devils went to Stamford Bridge and dominated Maurizio Sarri’s men.

Next up, another tough assignment. This time it’s Liverpool, although United will have the Old Trafford crowd firmly in their corner. This could well decide both the top-four chase and title charge, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looking to get one over on the old enemy.

With that in mind, it’s time to take a look at our predicted starting line-up. Here, the key is ‘if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it’. With the Baby Faced Assassin to play a similar formation that worked so wonderfully well last time out.

The first and only change I think we’ll see is David de Gea coming into the side. Our Spaniard was rested last time out, so he’ll be feeling fit, fresh and ready to go.

Luke Shaw will start at the left-back, with Ashley Young playing opposite him over on the right-hand side. He’ll also continue as captain. Victor Lindelof is maturing into an excellent centre-half, no doubt he’ll start. Then comes the tough choice, although I think Solskjaer will stick with the combination that shut out Chelsea so well.

Nemanja Matic will play at the base of the midfield three. He’ll have a tough job on his hands during this game. Ander Herrera will continue to be a nuisance and bring the energy to the table, while allowing Paul Pogba to do what he does best.

Juan Mata will play in that #10 role just behind the strike partnership of Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford. We’re due a big game from the former.
