4-3-3: Manchester United predicted starting XI vs Hull City – Carrick returns

A place in a Wembley final awaits Manchester United if they can overcome Hull City in the second leg of the EFL semi-final. Jose Mourinho’s men lead the first leg by a 2-0 scoreline, thanks to goals from Juan Mata and Marouane Fellaini. Now, it’s up to the team to back up that win and progress.

Ahead of the clash, we’ve decided to draw up the likely starting eleven for the game. Following this game, United host Wigan in the FA Cup, so I expect to see a strong line-up here, with Jose resting faces at the weekend.

In goal, we’ll see David de Gea continue, and hopefully, Marcos Rojo will be back after overcoming illness. The reliable Phil Jones will partner Marcos in the middle. Antonio Valencia will play as the right-back, with makeshift left-back Matteo Darmian continuing.

Onto the midfield three then, and I can see the gaffer bringing Michael Carrick back into the holding midfielder role. Ander Herrera will also continue, bringing that energy into the game. Paul Pogba will be deployed as the furthest forward of the three – allowing him to show his qualities.

Anthony Martial wasn’t in the squad for some reason over the weekend, but I can see the talented Frenchman getting the nod here. Jesse Lingard will also be brought back into the line-up, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic leading the line.
