Manchester United’s biggest game of the season so far takes place this coming Sunday, when Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side visit Old Trafford. Jose Mourinho’s men have been in good form recently, and they’ll be hoping to keep up their excellent winning streak come 18:00 BST on Sunday evening.
Ahead of the game, we’ve tried to decipher the great mind of Jose Mourinho and work out the starting line-up he is likely to go with. In goal, David de Gea will obviously get the nod, with the English back two of Chris Smalling and Phil Jones just in front of him. Antonio Valencia will play as the right-back, with Daley Blind coming back into the team on the left-hand side of the defence.
The midfield threesome will definitely be the one that has been the most successful so far. Michel carrick will sit just in front of the back four, allowing the star duo of Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba to go forward and do what they do best.
Our front three is just frightening on paper. Anthony Martial was rested against Hull in the cup, and I believe Jos was saving him for this match. Henrikh Mkhitaryan grabbed an assist in midweek, and will likely start on the right-hand side. Hopefully, Zlatan Ibrahimovic will overcome his illness and be fit enough to lead the line.
