4-3-3: Man United predicted starting XI vs Real Madrid – Pereira starts & Martial as striker

Manchester United’s pre-season tour has been a successful one thus far. Jose Mourinho’s men are three wins from three games, including an excellent victory over Manchester City. Next up, Real Madrid in our second game of the International Champions Trophy.

The game will be Madrid’s first pre-season game so in terms of fitness, we’ll be in a much better place than them. Hopefully, we can make that count, but it’s always good to test yourself against the very best.

Ahead of the match, we’ve drawn up our likely starting XI. Some big names miss out, including Romelu Lukaku, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Marcus Rashford – who have all played plenty of minutes on tour thus far. No doubt they’ll play in the second half.

Check out the predicted XI here:

Anyway, let’s get right into the line-up then. Sergio Romero will start in goal, but don’t be surprised to see Joel Pereira play either half in this one.

The back four could look a lot different to last time out. Here is to hoping that we get to see Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof playing together against top quality opposition. Matteo Darmian and Antonio Valencia will be deployed as the full-backs.

Michael Carrick will play as the holding midfielder, with Marouane Fellaini and Paul Pogba both getting a start. I’d love to see Scott McTominay thrown into the ring, but it’s probably too soon for him.

The front three looks exciting. Andreas Pereira has been used sparingly so far, and in a more defensive role. Hopefully, this is the game when he’ll be unleashed in the final third. Juan Mata should be back from injury and he’ll start. Anthony Martial will play as the lone striker.
