Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move to sign Juventus defender Alex Sandro recently.
The left-back position has been somewhat troubling to the Red Devils ever since Jose Mourinho took over; although Luke Shaw is doing some brilliant work at the moment following his return from injury.
Now Juventus star Sandro has spoken out about his future, and it makes for pretty grim reading if you wanted to see the Brazilian at Old Trafford.
“I have always remained focused on my work and my only thought has always been Juventus, with whom I still have two years of contract.” The 27-year-old told Gazzetta dello Sport, per Goal.
“I feel really good and I am satisfied with my condition today.
“My goal is first of all, to win everything with Juventus. Then, the World Cup will come and I hope to deserve a call from the Selecao by doing well here.”
In my opinion, Sandro would massively improve almost any team in world football. He’s a fantastic left-back and the Juventus fans absolutely love him.
Yes, Shaw has done well over the last two months, but injuries have plagued his Old Trafford career. If that’s going to continue, the club cannot keep carrying him while he remains on the treatment table.
Sandro is a cut above Shaw in terms of sheer talent, defensive diligence and positional sense, and United would be daft if they let the Brazilian slip from their grasp in order to take a gamble on the Englishman.
Getting a deal over the line wouldn’t come cheap, however, and no doubt a whole host of sides, including fellow Premier League team Chelsea, would be interested in pursuing a deal.
