Alexis Sanchez is set for his Manchester United medical today, according to Mirror Sport, who’ve covered this transfer saga excellently thus far.
Their report claims that a huge breakthrough in talks took place at 11:00pm last night, at which point Sanchez left the Arsenal team hotel and he was headed to Manchester to finalise his move.
It certainly looks as though this deal is close to being completed, and what a coup this will be for Jose Mourinho. The Chile international is up there amongst the best players on the planet, and he’d improve any team in world football. I’m still shocked that it looks as though United are going to get their man.
With no game now until Friday, it gives the club plenty of time to get Sanchez adjusted to life at Old Trafford before he takes to the field against Yeovil. He’ll be allowed to have a few training sessions with his new teammates, and the signing probably couldn’t have happened at a better time; although we all wanted to see him take to the field against Burnley.
Anyway, it’s down to Edward Woodward to push this deal over the line and make Sanchez a Manchester United player.
