Somehow, Manchester United managed to pull off the Alexis Sanchez signing, with the attacker becoming the first Chilean to become a member of the Red Devils’ first-team.
No doubt the 29-year-old simply cannot wait to get started at his new club, with the fans just as eager to see their new star play. Ahead of his anticipated debut against Yeovil Town on Friday night, the former Arsenal man has been speaking to the media about what he thinks his best position is.
Ahead of his anticipated debut against Yeovil Town on Friday night, the former Arsenal man has been speaking to the media about what he thinks his best position is.
“I really like to play down the left, through the middle… but to tell you the truth, as long as I’m playing football, I’ll fit in anywhere!” Sanchez told MUTV, via the Manchester Evening News’ liveblog.
As he says, this is a forward who can fit in all across the front line, and no doubt Jose Mourinho will utilise him in differing roles to fit certain situations. Undoubtedly his best position is the left-wing as that allows him to cut inside onto his right-foot, although I’d argue that his best season in England came when he was deployed as the lone striker.
With that said, I imagine he’ll start life at United out on the right-hand side. That’s probably been our weakest link in the side over the last few months, and hopefully, Sanchez can come in and change that from day one.
