Ander Herrera explains why David de Gea’s future is uncertain

Manchester United Football Club have had, without doubt, one of the best goalkeepers in the world on their books recently. David de Gea has been improving year-on-year, and the Spaniard has always given us his all every time he puts on our jersey.

Under Jose Mourinho, things have continued. The 26-year-old was truly outstanding in the game against Chelsea just over a week ago, and as per usual, there has been rarely any mistakes from our #1.

Now, his Spanish compatriot Ander Herrera has been speaking to the media about a variety of topics, including his pal ‘big Dave’. The midfielder admitted he tries not to bring up talk about De Gea, before discussing his uncertain future.

“I tried not to bring up the De Gea to Real Madrid topic,” Herrera is quoted as saying by the Manchester Evening News.

“It’s difficult for him to one day be at one place, and then to be at another the next.

“He learned a lot from this. It has made him more mature. I want him to be the one defending Manchester United’s goal.

“Hopefully it will be like that, but anything can happen in football.”

At the end of the day, our goalkeeper has given us absolutely everything. We have to remember, it wasn’t that long ago when Real Madrid were looming and a transfer away for him looked certain. Did De Gea moan and let it get him down? Nope. He kept plugging away and continued to put in world class performances.

In my opinion, I think it’s inevitable that De Gea will eventually move on, and probably to Real Madrid. That’s just football. Heck, it happened with Cristiano Ronaldo, and in that situation too, we were grateful that he gave us one more year.
