Manchester United have certainly improved their performances this term, as they look to finish second in the Premier League table, four places higher than their sixth-placed finish last term.
An area where the team has drastically improved is the midfield, with Jose Mourinho adding Nemanja Matic to the team, who has been a wonderful back-for protector for the duration of the campaign.
However, the midfield may need further treatment over the summer, with Michael Carrick hanging up his boots and joining Mourinho’s coaching staff for next term. Now, Ander Herrera has been speaking to United’s official site about his partner.
“I have no words to describe him… I feel almost a little bit embarrassed to talk about him because he is simply a legend.” Herrera told United’s official website.
“He has done everything for the club and not only is he very calm on the pitch, he’s also very relaxed off it too. He knows how to act in every moment – in the good moments and bad moments.
“He’s always very humble and very balanced. I’m so happy to have played with him for four years and I wish him all the best.”
Everyone loves Carrick. He’s just such a likeable character both on and off the field, and the fact that Herrera feels embarrassed when talking about him tells you everything you need to know.
For sure, his presence on the football field will dearly be missed, but the fact that on the training ground he’ll be able to help others is a huge boost. I look at Scott McTominay who’ll no doubt learn an awful lot from the former Tottenham Hotspur man.
If he makes half as good a coach as he was a player then we’ll still be benefitting from his immense ability for years to come.
