Manchester United Football Club lifted the EFL Cup over the weekend, as Jose Mourinho secured the first major trophy of the season. Things couldn’t have started any better for the Red Devils, and no doubt they’ll now be brimming with confidence.
The players just seem to love playing for the self-proclaimed Special One, and the look like they are thoroughly enjoying their football right now. We’re on a great run at the moment and long may that continue.
After the cup win, Ander Herrera has opened up to the media about what has changed, and discussed why Manchester United are playing so well recently. He obviously speaks very highly of the ‘winner’ Mourinho, and went on to say that it’s not very easy to beat the Red Devils at this point in time.
“I think one of the things [Jose] Mourinho has brought to this club is he is a winner. He shared that with the group, with the team and with the squad.” United’s official website quote the lovable Spaniard as saying.
“At this moment, it’s not very easy to beat us. We have to respect every opponent but the badge sometimes wins the game. We keep going. It’s our second title of the season but it’s not enough for us.”
You can see just how hungry Herrera is to succeed. He just wants to win titles for Manchester United, and you have to admire that. Under Louis van Gaal, the former Bilbao man couldn’t break into the team for some reason, but Jose Mourinho seems to absolutely adore his style of play.
We just look like a typical team managed by the Portuguese boss. Hard to beat, organised and clinical. He’s turned Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo into absolute world beaters and made influential signings like Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
We’re lucky to call him our boss, and let’s hope this trophy is the first of many.
