Ander Herrera set to earn staggering £300k-a-week at PSG after United exit: report

Everybody loves themselves some Ander Herrera. The Basque-born midfielder immediately hit it off with Manchester United fans, but his time at Old Trafford has now drawn to a close.

I think it’s fair to say the decision split supporters down the middle. Half were gutted to see him leave, while the rest thought he was nothing more than a squad player. Now, some financial details about Herrera’s new Paris Saint-Germain contract could change the minds of the former…

According to the Daily Mirror, Herrera will earn in excess of £300k-a-week while playing for the Ligue 1 champions, which is a staggering amount for a man who has been in and out of the United team over the last few years.

Understandably, United ‘could not get close’ to the package that PSG offered Herrera, and you simply cannot blame him for moving to the French capital for that sort of money either…

The Red Devils were put off by putting Herrera on a mega-money deal as they didn’t want that financial burden, particularly as the player has struggled recently and he’ll be 30 by the time the 2019/20 campaign starts.

For me, United have made the correct choice. Herrera’s been one of our better performers when on song, but I think that says more about the squad than it does about Herrera as a player. He’s not worth £300k-a-week, and if this club are trying to do away with overpaying for average players, then this is certainly a step in the right direction.
