Andreas Pereira could well be about to leave Man United this summer, with the Brazilian reduced to a bit-part player.
The story comes from Brazilian media outlet, Esporte Interativo, translated by The Metro. Apparently, talks are underway with Pereira ‘convinced’ he needs to depart Old Trafford in search of regular first-team football.
In their title, The Metro actually state that the 24-year-old United man is ‘set to leave’ the Reds this summer, with the process already underway.
Pereira has spent almost ten-years in Manchester, having moved from PSV Eindhoven back in 2011. It’s always sad to see academy graduates move on, particularly after so long.
This story comes in contrast from Belgian media outlet Het Belang van Limburg which we covered last month. They claimed that the midfielder won’t be leaving the Theatre of Dreams, but perhaps things have changed over the last few weeks…
The timing feels right…
Pereira has only featured for 26 minutes since football returned in mid-March. That was in a dead-rubber against LASK… Maybe he now knows that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer cannot offer him week-in-week-out minutes – as was the case last term.
We have to thank Pereira for his efforts, but it’s pretty clear he’s probably not good enough to play in a side with title aspirations. I’m not even sure he’s can offer enough as a squad player, if I’m honest…
Aged 24, Pereira now needs to be playing. He’s given his all to force into the team at Old Trafford, though the arrival of Bruno Fernandes has only made it tougher for him.
The report reckons that Valencia are keen on signing Pereira, which is a club he knows well following a loan move to the Spanish side a few years ago. There’s also a ‘raft’ of other interest in him from both Spain and Portugal.
Timing-wise, it certainly feels right…
