Manchester United sealed their place in the fourth round of the Capital One Cup draw, thanks to a 3-0 win at home to Ipswich Town. The hero of the day was Andreas Pereira, who scored a wonderful goal on his competitive debut for the club.
“It’s very special for me to score my first goal at the Stretford End. I always dreamed of this moment.” Pereira said.
The young Brazilian certainly acquitted himself well. He wasn’t afraid to have a go when one-on-one with his defender, he had a few shots from outside the box and generally looked full of confidence – that was summed up when he told Juan Mata that he wanted to take the free-kick, which then flew into the corner wonderfully.
He certainly made the most of his opportunity last night which is exactly what he would have wanted to do, and now he’ll definitely be in the back of Louis van Gaal’s mind when it comes to team selection.
