Manchester United finally completed the Angel di Maria sale this afternoon, as the record signing failed to last one year at the club before being moved on due to reported unhappiness in Manchester and at the club, after finding it tough to adapt to the physicality of the Premier League.
Upon leaving he has fired a parting shot at Manchester United, saying the club wanted to sell him…
Di Maria said: “It was not only my decision. If I am here, it is because they wanted to sell me.”
The Argentine has clearly been trying to force a move away from the club by not turning up on the pre-season tour of America, before publicly stating his intent to join the French champions, so to come out and say Manchester United wanted to sell him is ridiculous.
Yes, Manchester United could’ve kept him and let him rot on the bench, but thats in nobodies best interests. His fee would’ve gone down more and the club would still be paying his wages, plus they’d end up selling him for cheaper next summer anyway.
