Manchester United’s Anthony Martial has been missing from the pre-season tour over the last week, as his partner was giving birth to the Frenchman’s second child.
Rumours were sent into overdrive following the Red Devils’ 2-1 victory over Real Madrid, after Jose Mourinho admitted he ‘didn’t know’ whether the 22-year-old would return.
Now Martial has taken to Twitter to have his say on the situation… The #11 confirmed that his baby is healthy, while admitting that family will always come first. Finally, he wrapped things up by saying that he’ll be returning to Manchester tomorrow; presumably to get back into first-team training.
Merci à tous pour vos messages. Mon petit Swan va bien, pour la maman ça était plus difficile mais Grâce à Dieu elle va mieux maintenant. Desolé mais ma famille passera toujours avant Tout… Retour demain à Manchester 💪🏾

The Frenchman’s future remains up in the air. First and foremost, he needs game-time under his belt. If he does end up staying, Martial is already way behind Alexis Sanchez in terms of fitness levels, which obviously puts him one step behind his big rival.
However, if he continues to try and force a move away, why would any potential buying club want to make a deal happen if he’s not ready to play from the get-go? For now, it’s time for Martial to focus on returning to 100% be it in Manchester or elsewhere. There is still a strong chance that he remains at Old Trafford, so it’s time for him and his boss to try and build some bridges…
