Manchester United Football Club played out an excellent game at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, with two superb goals coming from Anthony Martial.
The Frenchman undoubtedly was the star of the show as he took the game by the scruff of its neck to put United in a commanding position – but for a late Ross Barkley leveller.
In the summer, Martial made it public knowledge that he wanted to leave Old Trafford; presumably due to his relationship with Jose Mourinho…
However, after the match yesterday, Martial lifted the lid on life under the self-proclaimed Special One, as he was adamant that there are no problems between the pair.
“Come on – things were not tense between us to begin with!” Martial told reporters, including the Manchester Evening News.
“We have a player-coach relationship and I hope that we will continue like that and bring Manchester United as much as possible.”
This is a hugely positive update. Obviously, before the international break, it looked as though the manager had begun to lose the dressing room after a string of poor results.
It’s great to know that it isn’t actually the case and Martial is seemingly happy with the player-coach relationship that they have. Sure, they’re hardly going to become the best of friends but at least they have a working, professional bond as they’re both clearly fighting for the same cause.
