Anthony Martial has left Manchester United’s pre-season tour of the United States, citing personal reasons.
That’s according to the Manchester Evening News, who says that the club have given Martial permission to be with his girlfriend, who is due to give birth to their son.
Martial’s had an odd summer at Old Trafford, with his future still up in the air. Obviously, at this stage, it’s best that he’s with his partner at this point in time. Football takes a back-seat.
To be brutally honest, the 22-year-old taking his mind off football may do him some good. It’s probably the first time in his career where he’s had to deal with a troubling situation, and now he can just leave it all up to his agent while he takes care of his girlfriend.
I think we’d all love Martial to remain a Red Devil, and the ball is in the club’s court. He has twelve months left on his current deal, with an option for a further year if United wish to extend his stay.
Don’t forget that this summer we’re in a shortened transfer window due to the English FA wanting business to be done before the season actually kicks off on August 10th.
