Manchester United made the biggest move of transfer deadline day, sealing a £36million swoop for the French international Anthony Martial. He has recently been on international duty, and he was helped by a former United hero – Patrice Evra.
Evra left Old Trafford twelve months ago now but his affection for the club is still there for all to see. He invited United’s new-boy to dinner to talk to him about his move to Old Trafford, and encouraged him to take English lessons.
The Daily Mail’s Adam Crafton said: “At France’s training base at Clairefontaine, Evra took a paternal approach to Martial, inviting him for lunch on Wednesday afternoon, encouraging him to take English lessons and preparing him for the move to Old Trafford.”
This is absolutely fantastic to see. Patrice Evra was one of those few overseas players that ‘got’ Manchester United Football Club from minute one. Its super to witness him supporting his colleagues, and also helping the club by just doing little things like this.
Hopefully Martial can hit the ground running this weekend, and there is no better place for him to start than a tricky fixture at Old Trafford as Liverpool are the visitors.
