Questions were raised when Anthony Martial wasn’t aboard the plane to Germany to take on Bayern Munich over the weekend, but now we know why.
The 22-year-old was forced into taking a double training session instead, ESPN report, per The Metro. The 22-year-old is obviously in the manager’s bad-books at this point, but it’s unclear as to whether this was punishment, or he’s building up his fitness after having no pre-season whatsoever.
Martial wants out, we all know that. However, at this point, it looks as though he’s staying at Old Trafford beyond the current transfer window. With the ball in United’s court, that always looked like the most inevitable outcome.
At this point, who knows what’ll happen with Martial over the coming season. He’s obviously a brilliant player, nobody can deny that. There is some concern, though, because if he’s unhappy, that could disrupt the rest of the squad.
It’s a tough choice for Jose Mourinho to make. He doesn’t want to lose a brilliant player, but eventually, his hand may be forced. It just depends how much of a fuss he kicks up, I suppose. But the moment he starts complaining, that’ll probably be the last time he ever wears the famous red jersey.
