Antonio Valencia responds to penning a one-year extension on his Manchester United contract

Manchester United Football Club has been pretty quiet in the January transfer market, and I get the feeling that the manager is pretty content with his current squad. Behind the scenes, though, work is being done – and another player has been tied down to a new deal.

That man is Antonio Valencia, and not long after putting pen to paper, the 31-year-old took to Twitter to send a message to the fans. The man from Ecuador seemed absolutely thrilled to be renewing at Old Trafford and he further endeared himself to the fans as he labelled United ‘the greatest club in the world’.

Check out Tony V’s tweet here:

The #25 has been one of Jose’s first names on the team sheet all season, and he thoroughly deserves his new contract. Massive credit has to go to Valencia, because when he suffered that horrific injury a few years ago, he could’ve let it get him down but he certainly hasn’t. In fact, he’s used it as a learning curve and turned himself into a more accomplished player.

Congratulations on your new deal Antonio!
