Louis van Gaal’s Dutch compatriot Arjen Robben has suggested that the former Holland boss will get Manchester United back in the Champions League next season, because its ‘where they belong’. The 30-year old added that United are a big club, and he hopes Van Gaal shows just how good of a manager he is.
Robben worked with Louis van Gaal whilst at Bayern Munich, and on an international level, so the pair have formed a friendship as well as a working relationship.
“I haven’t spoken to him recently, but I was very happy for him that he won the game against QPR,”
“Hopefully now he can show that he will do very well, but he needs time.
“I know how it works – if you are not winning, you get the pressure but the management at United know what sort of coach they have got and I am very confident he will be successful there.
“He will get United back into the Champions League next season, where they belong.
“They are such a big club and that is where they belong.”
Robben was one of the stars of the World Cup under Louis van Gaal, and there were many rumours linking him with a move to Old Trafford this summer. Sadly, that move didn’t come to fruition, because his pace would’ve been a real asset this year.
