Ashley Young hints that Man United can play even better

Manchester United have been simply sensational recently. They’re playing like the club we once knew and loved. Credit for that has to go to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

On Monday night, the Red Devils went to Stamford Bridge and bested Chelsea in their own backyard. It was a stunning performance from start to finish.

Speaking after the game, Ashley Young has talked about the belief that it gives the players, while also discussing that United knew how to exploit Chelsea’s weaknesses. It’s fair to say that did that wonderfully well. What strikes me most, though, is the fact that Youngy believes the Red Devils have ‘another gear to go’…

“It gives us all massive belief – obviously you will get confidence from winning games,” he said, per The Guardian. “We beat Spurs away and Arsenal away and now Chelsea away. We knew Chelsea’s weaknesses and we knew how we wanted to play the game and I think we did that superbly well from the start until the end. It was magnificent and I think we had another gear to go. That says a lot about us bouncing back from midweek and getting a result.”

It was a brilliant display and it does make you wonder how good this team could be when they’ve got a full complement of players and everyone is performing at their peak. Imagine the damage that a fully fit Anthony Martial would have done to that Chelsea back four? It’s frightening.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, it’s all down to Solskjaer. He’s instilled a belief in this squad that previously wasn’t there, and we’re seeing the best form of their careers from attacking players like Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford.

These players still have massive room to grow, and going into a huge game against Liverpool this coming Sunday, the dressing room will be feeling good. It’s all about a positive mindset, and if we can get one over on the old enemy, boost our top four hopes, while denting Liverpool’s title dreams, that’d be the perfect end to a great week.
