Manchester United Football Club and Bastian Schweinsteiger have decided to part ways, with the veteran midfielder all set for a move to the MLS to play for the Chicago Fire. Sadly, it never really worked out for the 32-year-old here, and a move away always seemed inevitable.
Now Schweinsteiger has taken to Twitter to send a real heartwarming message to the Old Trafford faithful, who have supported him brilliantly throughout his eighteen month period as a Red Devil.

As a fan of football, I’ve always admired Bastian Schweinsteiger from his days at Bayern Munich. When he made the move to Manchester United I was absolutely delighted, but to watch his fall from grace has been pretty disappointing.
He got plenty of opportunities under Louis van Gaal, but injuries really hampered the back end of his debut season. Things with Jose Mourinho haven’t been quite as smooth and he’s barely featured – when he has gotten minutes, they’ve been mostly from the bench.
Now, he has to think about the good of his career and a move away was obviously the best option for him. The MLS and the Chicago Fire will present him with another different challenge, and I hope he can go to the United States and become a real success there.
