Manchester United Football Club are on the verge of sealing their first summer signing. The club have confirmed that themselves and SL Benfica have agreed upon a fee for Victor Lindelof, and now, we’ve been given a date as to when we should expect the Swede in town.
It comes from the BBC, namely their reporter Simon Stone, who is claiming that 22-year-old Lindelof will fly to England on Wednesday to undergo his medical. That makes sense as his native Sweden play their final game of the international break tomorrow night – meaning the centre-back will be free after that.
I’m genuinely excited by the prospect of Lindelof making the move to Old Trafford. He looks like a brilliantly talented individual from what I’ve seen, and alongside Eric Bailly, it definitely has the makings of a long-term pairing.
In the same report, Simon Stone goes on to discuss Alvaro Morata’s situation – and it’s good news. He says that further progress between United and Real Madrid is expected to be made this week, and Jose Mourinho’s cause has been aided by the fact that Los Blancos have distanced themselves from signing David de Gea.
Again, this is an area of the field that the Red Devils simply have to strengthen in. Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contract has not been renewed and replacing his 28-goal haul was never going to be easy. Morata seems like an excellent fit and he is a player that Mourinho knows very well from their time together out in the Spanish capital.
