Manchester United’s next league opponents are Watford, who visit Old Trafford this coming Saturday. Jose Mourinho’s men have been in good form of late, particularly in the Premiership – and this is another must win clash for the self-proclaimed Special One and his side.
It looks as though their task could’ve just gotten slightly easier, too. Phil Jones, the man who has formed an excellent partnership at the back with Marcos Rojo, has confirmed he’ll be fit to play after overcoming an injury; which is obviously a huge news.
Phil Jones was asked about this injury problem, and whether he’ll be alright to play against Watford this weekend. The Englishman responded:
“It is all good now,” Jones told the Manchester Evening News live blog (scroll to just before 7am this morning).
“I have just had a bit of bruising underneath the foot where my insole cracked and that was pushing up and it was just a bit painful.”
“It was just one of those things. You can’t legislate for that. It could happen to anyone. It was just unfortunate it cracked.”
“But I should be okay for Watford.”
As mentioned before, the 24-year-old has formed an outstanding partnership with Marcos Rojo at the back, and credit to both of them for proving so many doubters wrong. Personally, I felt the pair’s days at Old Trafford were numbered, but now, they look like they really mean business, and Jose Mourinho will have a job on his hands if he wants to drop either one of the duo.
It feels like ‘Jonesy’ has been around for ages, and he’s still only so young with much developing and growing to do. If he can put all those niggling injuries behind him, then this man could still go on to have a hugely successful career at the Theatre of Dreams.
