Blind reacts to rumours that Mourinho is set to axe him from Man Utd

Yesterday, reports emerged suggesting that Daley Blind is set to face the axe from Jose Mourinho, along with Juan Mata. It didn’t take long for the versatile Dutchman to respond, and he has claimed he is excited about the prospect of Jose Mourinho coming in.

“I am looking forward to working with Mourinho. We will have to wait and see whether anything changes for me.” Blind began.

“I will just give my all and work hard. Mourinho is a manager who has achieved a lot and I am keen to work with him.”

The 26-year old then went on to discuss his defensive qualities, as well as the fact that he has been  ever-present in Manchester United’s team over the last twelve months.

“I might not be as big as Pepe, but I think I have shown in the Premier League that I can hold my own defensively. We conceded the fewest goals in the Premier League and I think we got the most clean sheets.

“That’s something to be proud of. I played nearly every game and that is a good feeling.

“You might be looking for a certain statement, but I will just give my all under Mourinho.”

It would be a huge shame if Jose Mourinho couldn’t find room for Daley Blind in his Manchester United squad. He has made a big impression at Old Trafford during his two years here, and he could well be the equivalent of Sir Alex Ferguson’s John O’Shea.

He has the ability to play at centre-back, centre midfield and even left-back if needed, and surely that must be attractive for Mourinho – even if he is just a squad player.

I guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens in the transfer market, because he certainly won’t be going anywhere if United cannot find someone to replace him.
