Anthony Martial’s Manchester United future has been up in the air all summer. Now, we may well have been handed the clearest indication to suggest his time at Old Trafford is coming to an end.
That’s due to the latest tweet from journalist Samuel Luckhurst, who says that Martial wasn’t with the squad that is jetting out to Germany to take on Bayern Munich in a pre-season friendly later today.
Our 22-year-old Frenchman had returned to training following the birth of his second child, and has had practically no pre-season up to this point. He should’ve been a shoe-in to be aboard the plane, but obviously, we’re not going to see the former AS Monaco man in action this evening.
Anthony Martial wasn’t with the #mufc squad which arrived at Manchester Airport this morning.

At this point, the writing appears to be on the wall for him. Everyone knows he doesn’t want to be here, so why should Jose Mourinho continue to utilise him? Particularly if he went AWOL while on tour in the United States. The self-proclaimed Special One is well within his rights to spend that time with another player, one who does want to remain a Red Devil.
That’s not to say Martial isn’t immensely talented. Clearly, he is. Sometimes, though, it’s better to just let an unhappy player move on for the good of overall squad harmony. Hopefully, an overseas club comes in with a suitable offer and takes him off our hands.
