Blow as two-week delay expected before Man United seal star signing: report

<> on June 1, 2016 in Salzburg, Austria.

Manchester United may have to wait two weeks before they can potentially finalise a deal to bring Alvaro Morata to Old Trafford. That’s according to Spanish media outlet Don Balon, translated by the Daily Express. The problem? Cristiano Ronaldo.

Morata, 24, had hoped to see a deal finalised before his wedding, but the latest revelations surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo’s future has seemingly put any move for the Spaniard on hold – which is kind of frustrating.

A two-week delay can pose all sorts of problems. It could put doubt in the mind of Morata about a move, because it hints that the club aren’t 100% sold on the player.

On top of that, it presents other sides with an opportunity for them to swoop in and make a move of their own, which again, could spell bad news.

The delay is frustrating, and ultimately there is nothing we can do. It definitely leaves United with less time to push on ahead with getting a deal completed before pre-season, which is now just over a few weeks away from starting.

For me, Morata would be the ideal player for Manchester United, and he’d suit Premier League football down to a tee. He’s quick, physical and a box full of tricks. Plus, he knows where the back of the net is.
