A few years ago now, Adnan Januzaj burst onto the scene by having one of the best debuts I can remember in recent times. The brilliant Belgian scored two stunning goals to help United to a victory over Sunderland, and for the remainder of that campaign, he was truly outstanding.
Since then though, things have gone downhill, and pretty quickly too… After a couple of failed loan moves at both Borussia Dortmund and Sunderland, it now looks as though Januzaj’s time at the Theatre of Dreams could be over…
That’s according to The Times, who say that the Red Devils are set to tell the 22-year-old that he has no future at the club next week. It is understood that Januzaj is not a part of Jose Mourinho’s plans, and with one year left on his current deal, now would be the ideal time to sell him.
The aforementioned report names both Marseille and Lyon as two clubs who are eyeing Januzaj’s signature, both of whom would be a pretty good fit. He’d go to Ligue 1 at a team where there would be no pressure on him, allowing him to get back to doing what he does best.
I’m pretty gutted that it hasn’t quite worked out for him here because he is obviously a wonderful little player. That said, you cannot underperform at a club like Manchester United for two years and then remain here. Sadly, that is just the harshness of football at the highest level.
