Yes, we’re back with more Bruno Fernandes stories – which is seemingly all Manchester United fans care about right now (that’s understandable given our midfield woes).

Anyway, earlier on we covered a story from the Daily Mirror in which it was claimed that United are set to bid £65m for Fernandes ‘this week’. As per usual, the Portuguese media are willing to go one better…

The story comes from A Bola’s Monday print edition, translated via Sport Witness. They’re making a pretty bold claim.

Apparently, the 25-year-old’s move to United is ‘imminent’ and a deal could be closed today, or tomorrow at the latest (or ‘at the limit’ as A Bola write it’…

The €70m total fee (£60m) once again pops up, while Marcos Rojo’s name is also mentioned in the article – in terms of a probable move the other way.

Apparently, Fernandes’ inclusion against Benfica this Friday could be ‘at the mercy’ of United, who are clearly hoping to get a deal done rather than risking the midfielder picking up an injury.

As we stated earlier, Fernandes scored twice in the league on Saturday night and didn’t look like a man who has just played his last game for Sporting. Maybe an awful lot has changed in the 24-48 hours since, but right now I’m not holding my breath.

Perhaps this deal will get done before the end of January, but I’d still be surprised if we hear anything official over the next few days…
