Bruno Fernandes remains on Man United’s transfer radar: report

Manchester United have themselves a serious midfield issue. Not only is the club lacking in quality in that area, the Red Devils also need to add bodies before the season begins.

In an article based around Romelu Lukaku and time running out on his Inter Milan move, the Telegraph gave us a little snippet on the longstanding United target Bruno Fernandes…

Although it seems to be that the 20-time Premier League champions would prefer to acquire Sean Longstaff, the prolific 24-year-old Sporting Lisbon man is ‘still on United’s radar’ this summer…

For a midfielder, Fernandes has scored goals for fun. His mightily impressive tally of 32 strikes in all competitions tells you just how capable this man is at finding the back of the net. When you factor in his 18 assists, this guy has massive potential.

So why haven’t United already got a deal done? Well for me, it seems as though the club have reservations about whether Fernandes can transition seamlessly into the Premier League. It took Victor Lindelof a full season to do exactly that, and it would be a big-money gamble to sign the Sporting Lisbon player this summer – even moreso if Paul Pogba stays at Old Trafford as they play in a similar position.

At this point, I personally don’t believe a deal will happen although I think all of us would like it to. Signing a new centre-back is probably the more pressing issue right now, and adding a new central midfielder will probably be considered a bonus with time quickly winding down.
