United legend ‘King’ Eric Cantona has stated his faith in the current United squad and reiterated that this squad is as strong as ever, ahead of the Manchester Derby at the Etihad this weekend. The Frenchman has been in Manchester recently and somewhat fittingly as Cantona week has just passed, he was also at Sir Alex’s statue unveiling.
The ex-striker gave Inside United his thoughts on the events of last season “Last season United lost the league in the last minute. Sometimes that happens, but they are still a top team and a top team in Europe” He continued. “They are as strong as years before and it’s great to see Ferguson create a new generation of players. He has spent over 25 years at the club and there have been so many generations. It’s not only generations of players, but generations of people.
“I have said before that the manager is a great psychologist – he is a great example because being a manager is about being a great psychologist. I think it’s just as important to be a good psychologist as it is a tactician. Maybe more. And Ferguson is that.”
Eric Cantona always has kind words to say about his former club and Sir Alex Ferguson, and the legend will forever be remembered for guiding us to our first Premier League title in 1993. Ooh Ah, Cantona!
