David de Gea – Quiet. Made a couple of decent saves, perhaps could’ve done better with Southampton’s first. 5/10

Antonio Valencia – Average. Bombed down the right-hand side but he didn’t have that quality in the final pass. 4/10

Sergio Romero – Wasn’t really tested but did alright for the most part. Could distribute better, though. 6/10

Ashley Young – Once again deputised at right-back and played well. Didn’t give the Saint-Etienne winger a sniff. 7/10

Sergio Romero – Dealt with crosses very well. Couldn’t do anything about the goal and that double-save late on was out of this world. Well played. 7/10

Ashley Young – Played out of position at right-back and did well for the most part. 6/10

David de Gea – Made a great save from a Watford free-kick to preserve his clean sheet. 7/10

Antonio Valencia – Picked up an early booking, but buccaneered up and down that right-hand side all day. Top performance. 7/10

David de Gea – Had a really quiet match and wasn’t tested whatsoever. An easy day for him. 6/10

Antonio Valencia – Back to his best. Bombed up and down the right flank all afternoon. Grabbed an assist. 7/10

David de Gea – Was a bystander in the game right until the death, when Hull City struck the post and left the keeper helpless. 5/10

Antonio Valencia – Nice to see him back involved, he literally had no defending to do. His final ball wasn’t great, though. 4/10

David de Gea – Made a few decent saves in the first half, but couldn’t stop the penalty. His distribution was decent. 5/10

Matteo Darmian – Weirdly, he looks more comfortable out on the left than he does on the right. His positioning was awful at times, and he was at fault for Hull’s second. 3/10

David de Gea – Couldn’t do anything about the goal, wasn’t tested at all putting that to one side. 6/10

Antonio Valencia – Got into the right areas but just couldn’t find that killer ball. 6/10

Antonio Valencia – What a player he has become. He always offers himself as an outlet down the right, and today was no different. 7/10

David de Gea – Had a really quiet evening at Old Trafford and wasn’t really tested by the Hull City team. 5/10
